Finding vegan-friendly options can be tricky. Luckily, Cardiff has some of the best vegan spots around! To help you out, we’ve put together a list of 10 great independent vegan stores in Cardiff. Whether you’re a fully fledged vegan or just trying to eat less meat, fear not! These stores have something for everyone 🙂

1. The Vegan Stop.

The Vegan Stop is a top-notch plant-based restaurant on Clarendon Road. It has a great menu that’s even tempting to non-vegans. They sell fast food such as burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, vegan cakes, and ice cream.

They also sell breakfast items like the all-day breakfast wrap and vegan bacon & sausage baps. Great for a lazy Sunday morning!

2. The Naked Vegan.

A 100% vegan bakery that sells a range of homemade cakes, pastries and sweet treats. It’s all handmade in Cardiff by a friendly local owner. The store sells amazing personalised cakes, muffins, brownies, cheesecakes, and much more!

You can find it on the second floor of Cardiff Market. They also sell a range of coffees and teas, making it a perfect place to stop off and relax after a day of shopping.

They even sell croissants and £1 cookies!

3. Got No Beef.

Got No Beef is a 100% vegan, family-run restaurant in the city centre. It was set up by three brothers who grew up in Cardiff. They started as a small food stall before growing into a full restaurant. 

Got No Beef has an enormous fast-food menu that includes double stack vegan burgers, chicken wings, hot dogs and battered vegan shrimp. They also sell milkshakes and a range of beers too!

4. Anna Loka.

Cardiff’s first fully vegan restaurant and a local gem. Anna Loka was set up in 2015 by Adam. A vegan Hare Krishna monk turned entrepreneur.

The restaurant sells a variety of healthy, wholesome food with generous portions. They have a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, making it a great place to visit any time of the day.

Their menu offers dishes such as curries, tapas and wraps. They have a range of desserts too! Their salted caramel  & peanut butter cheesecakes are stunning! They also provide gluten-free options and food to go if you’re in a hurry.

5. Clancy’s. 

Found near the clock tower at Cardiff’s indoor market, Clancy’s aims to bring you delicious vegan food and veggie essentials.

This store sells great takeaway food that’s super cheap, and healthy too! They offer homemade Dahl pots with naan bread, vegan pies, wraps, lasagna and cakes!

Clancy’s also sell a range of vegan ingredients, spices and chillies. The owner is very knowledgeable and can give great advice on teas and spices. They have a great collection of whiskeys and absinthe too if that’s your thing 🙂 You could spend hours looking at this stall!

6. BeanFreaks.

BeanFreaks is a small independent company with over 40 years of experience. They are a family run business with stores in Roath and Canton. Whether you have a food intolerance, enjoy exotic ingredients, or just want to pick up a snack, this is the place to go!

They always have an excellent range of vegan items, including fresh sandwiches, snacks and vegan beauty products. If you’re after vitamin pills, natural skincare, baby products, or cosmetics, you can also find them here. 

The shelves are packed with all sorts of health foods and snacks. They also have a freshly squeezed juice bar where customers can sit and relax.

7. Crumbs Kitchen.

Crumb’s kitchen believes that vegetarian and vegan food doesn’t have to be boring! They sell healthy, homemade dishes for breakfast and lunch. Their menu also uses locally sourced produce wherever possible. 

This place offers indoor/outdoor seating and takeaway too. There’s stacks to choose from, pies, quiches, lasagnas, homemade soups, curries and much more!

8. Ripple Living.

Road in 2018 and is Cardiff’s first zero-waste shop. 

All items have no packaging, making this place a dream for zero waste lovers. The idea with Ripple is that you bring your own containers and fill them with what you need. 

The food is weighed and labelled to make sure you get the right amount. Customers are advised to bring containers to the store, but they do sell jars and reusable bags if you forget 🙂

They stock a range of vegan and vegetarian items, including savoury food, vegan sweets, cleaning products, loose-leaf teas, candles, and craft supplies. They even have a machine that lets you make your own peanut butter!

9. The Greenery.

The Greenery Kitchen is a fully plant-based takeaway in Cardiff Market. It’s a great vegan store to stop off and grab a bite to eat while you’re shopping or on a lunch break!

They serve lunches that use fresh ingredients grown in Cardiff. The store works closely with local produce sellers, and they source the majority of their ingredients from Cardiff Market. (Talk about supporting your local business!) The Greenery sell delicious vegan tacos, giant baguettes, soups, salads, and cakes. 

They also do meal deals, so make sure you check those out too. You definitely don’t need to be vegan to enjoy this place!

10. Eartha.

And last but certainly not least, we have Eartha.

A vegan restaurant and retail store that sells products made by local residents. Eartha is a non-profit store, and most of the money they earn is invested back into the community!

Eartha sells goods from some of Cardiff’s best local businesses. They stock Waterloo Tea, coffee beans from Hard Lines, plants from Bute Park Nurseries, locally baked bread and much more! 

They also have a vegan cafe and beer garden. They sell healthy food that uses ingredients grown around Cardiff. Food menus can vary from week to week, so please check their website for up-to-date information.
